Watching a live stream on Twitch just became significantly more convenient for many users. The platform is rolling out a new capability that allows viewers to rewind a live broadcast directly from the streamer’s main channel page, eliminating a previously cumbersome navigation step.

This new rewind function means you no longer have to exit the live view and click into the Videos section of a streamer’s profile to see what you missed. It offers a much more intuitive and immediate way to scrub backwards during an ongoing broadcast. Initially, this feature is launching on the web version of Twitch. Access, however, will be limited at first to Twitch Turbo subscribers and individual channel subscribers.

According to CEO Dan Clancy, this phased approach is intentional. The company needs to ensure the new feature does not inadvertently become a method for viewers to skip advertisements. By starting with a controlled group, Twitch can monitor usage and ad delivery. The plan is to eventually make the rewind capability available to all users. The company is also developing a version of the feature for its mobile applications, though a specific timeline for that wider release has not been announced.
