Google’s latest hardware showcase, Made by Google 2025, introduced a suite of new devices including the Pixel 10 series, Pixel Watch 4, and Pixel Buds 2a, all designed to push the boundaries of smartphone technology, wearable performance, and audio experience. While many of the announcements were anticipated, several software enhancements and design innovations stood out as genuine surprises.

The Pixel 10 series takes center stage with four distinct models: the standard Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the foldable Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Rather than a complete redesign, this generation refines the foundation set by its predecessors. The base Pixel 10 includes a 6.3-inch Actua display, 12GB of RAM, and a versatile triple-camera setup featuring a new 5x telephoto lens. This allows for impressive 20x Super Res Zoom, making distant subjects appear crisp and clear. Starting at $799, it comes in four appealing colors.

Stepping up, the Pixel 10 Pro shares the same compact form but upgrades to a Super Actua display capable of an eye-searing 3,300 nits brightness. With 16GB of RAM and an enhanced telephoto lens, it supports up to 100x Pro Res Zoom. Battery life is rated at 30 hours, and pricing begins at $999. The Pro XL model mirrors these specs but expands the screen to 6.8 inches, starting at $1,199.

The real standout is the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, which introduces meaningful engineering improvements. It features a new hinge design described as gearless and high-strength, promising durability through a decade of use. More notably, it becomes the first foldable with an IP68 rating, offering full dust resistance and protection against water immersion, outpacing rivals like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7. With a 6.4-inch outer display and 8-inch inner screen, it starts at $1,799.

All models are powered by the new Tensor G5 chip, which Google claims is 60% faster than last year’s silicon. Each device also guarantees seven years of software updates and integrates deeply with Gemini AI. Preorders began on August 20, with general availability starting August 28. The Fold, however, won’t ship until October 9.

Software and AI features also received significant attention. Magic Cue is a new contextual assistant that anticipates user needs, such as pulling up flight details during a call with an airline. Camera enhancements include Camera Coach, which offers shooting advice, and Auto Best Take, which blends multiple shots into one ideal image. An improved Add Me feature now includes the photographer in group photos.

Another hardware innovation is Pixelsnap, a magnetic attachment system that enables accessories like Qi2 wireless chargers, stands, and grips to snap securely to the back of the phone. Google is launching a range of compatible accessories, including a $40 wireless charger and a $70 stand version.

On the audio front, the Pixel Buds 2a offer a more affordable alternative to the Pro model. Priced at $130, they include Active Noise Cancellation with Silent Seal 1.5, spatial audio support, and a 20-hour total battery life. They use the Tensor A1 chip and come in two colors. Preorders started August 20, with availability on October 9.

Finally, the Pixel Watch 4 brings meaningful upgrades in display, battery, and repairability. It features a larger, brighter screen and improved battery life, up to 40 hours for the 45mm model. For the first time, users can replace the display and battery themselves. New safety additions include SOS satellite communication for emergency messaging without cellular service. The watch comes in two sizes, with the 41mm model starting at $350 and the 45mm at $400. It also becomes available on October 9.

Together, these products reflect Google’s continued investment in integrated hardware and intelligent software, aiming to deliver a more seamless and capable ecosystem for users.
