Nintendo Indie World Showcase This Week: Silksong Hopes Rise

Nintendo has announced an upcoming Indie World Showcase this Thursday, sparking renewed excitement among fans eagerly awaiting news about Hollow Knight: Silksong and other indie titles. The 15-minute presentation will air on August 7 at 6 AM PT / 2 PM UK time, featuring updates and announcements for indie games coming to both the Nintendo Switch and the rumored Switch 2.
Speculation is running high, particularly after Silksong’s absence from last month’s Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase left fans disappointed. With the game confirmed for playable demos at Microsoft’s Xbox booth during gamescom and an Australian museum event in September, hopes are rising that a release date might finally be revealed. However, given the game’s long development cycle, tempered expectations may be wise, especially with Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live still on the horizon.
Beyond Silksong, Nintendo fans are also looking ahead to potential first-party announcements. The recent Partner Direct and now the Indie World Showcase have kept the spotlight on third-party and indie titles, but questions linger about when Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Kirby Air Riders, and the rumored 3D Mario game will get their moment in the spotlight. With 2025 release windows still in place for some of these titles, anticipation is building for a full-fledged Nintendo Direct in the near future.
For now, all eyes are on Thursday’s showcase to see whether Silksong will finally make its long-awaited debut, or if the wait continues.
