Ubisoft has officially revealed the launch date for Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Claws of Awaji, the first major expansion for the hit action-adventure title. The DLC arrives on September 16, offering players access to an entirely new region, the island of Awaji, alongside fresh gear, abilities, and an additional 10 hours of story content that continues the narrative beyond the main game’s conclusion. Those who pre-ordered Shadows will receive the expansion at no extra cost.

Fans can expect deeper exploration of Naoe’s personal journey and Yasuke’s ongoing battle against the Templars, with the expansion promising new revelations and challenges. The wait won’t be long, with just under two months until release.

Beyond Claws of Awaji, Ubisoft has outlined a content roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, kicking off with a major progression update on July 29. This free patch introduces New Game Plus, raising the level cap from 60 to 80 and allowing players to upgrade Knowledge ranks to 9 and 10. Hideout enhancements are also part of the package, alongside the third Animus Project, which rewards players with modern-day lore for completing weekly missions.

New Game Plus becomes available immediately after finishing the main story, letting players restart from either the beginning or after Naoe takes control of the hideout. While story progress resets, character levels, gear, and hideout upgrades carry over. Completing the game again in this mode unlocks exclusive rewards, perfect for dedicated fans looking to showcase their commitment.

Another free update in early September brings quality-of-life improvements, including time acceleration, clearer map unfogging after synchronizing viewpoints, and further hideout upgrades. PC players gain the option to remove framerate caps during cutscenes for smoother visuals.

Though Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed a Shadows release for Nintendo Switch 2, recent comments from CEO Yves Guillemot suggest an announcement could be imminent. For now, players have plenty to look forward to with the upcoming expansion and updates.
