▼ Summary

– Porsche builds high-performance cars, but models like the GT3 RS still make compromises for track use, leading to Manthey Racing’s upgrade kits.
– Manthey Racing, a Porsche-owned team based at the Nürburgring, creates upgrade kits that enhance Porsche performance for dedicated track drivers.
– The Manthey Kit for the Taycan Turbo GT requires the Weissach package and improves the 0–60 mph time from 2.2 to 2.1 seconds.
– With the Manthey Kit, Porsche driver Lars Kern lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6 minutes, 55.553 seconds, shaving 12 seconds off the standard time.
– The upgrade adds tunable aerodynamic parts, including body extensions, a larger rear wing, underbody diffusers, and aerodisc wheels, to increase downforce.

Porsche has a well-earned reputation for delivering vehicles that perform exceptionally well straight from the factory. Yes, they often carry a higher price tag than other German luxury automakers, especially once you start ticking options. But spend any time behind the wheel, and the driving experience quickly justifies the cost. That reputation extends even further with the focused machines emerging from Weissach’s motorsport division, like the sublime 911 GT3.

Yet for some enthusiasts who dedicate their weekends to track days at iconic circuits such as the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany’s Eifel Mountains, even a razor-sharp GT3 RS makes too many road-going compromises. That’s where Manthey Racing enters the picture.

Located in the industrial estate right next to the ’Ring, Manthey is a highly successful racing team that Porsche has majority-owned since 2013. Their expertise comes from years of making Porsches go faster around the 12.9-mile (20.8 km) Green Hell. They channel that experience into upgrade kits that crank performance dials all the way up.

The latest Manthey Kit isn’t for the 911 or 718, but rather the electric Porsche Taycan. Specifically, this upgrade targets the Taycan Turbo GT variant introduced in 2024. It also requires the factory-installed Weissach package, which strips weight using carbon-fiber trim, thinner glass, a lighter sound system, and even removes the second charge port and rear speakers. With that setup, the 0–60 mph (0–97 km/h) time drops from 2.2 seconds to just 2.1 seconds.

But the more jaw-dropping figure is how fast Porsche factory driver Lars Kern lapped the Nordschleife in 2024: he completed a lap in 7 minutes, 7.5 seconds. That is already a blistering time.

Now, with the Manthey Kit, Kern shaved off 12 seconds, setting a time of 6:55.553. That dramatic improvement underscores just how much faster the car can go. The kit adds more aerodynamic downforce through wild new body extensions, including louvers on the front wheel arches (likely to let air escape the wheel well), a larger rear wing, new underbody diffusers, and aerodisc rear wheels. Best of all, the car’s downforce levels are tunable, so you can optimize it for whichever track you’re blistering that week.
