Smart lighting brand Govee is closing out a busy stretch of product launches with its most ambitious overhead fixture yet. Following the recent debut of solar-powered lights, a cordless table lamp, and an updated LED wall panel, the company has now unveiled the Govee Ceiling Light Ultra, a multicolor fixture that doubles as a low-resolution display. Priced at $249.99 and available starting today through Govee’s website and Amazon, this model marks the first time the brand has used its ceiling light’s LED array to render actual images.
Measuring 21 inches in diameter, the Ultra is significantly larger than earlier iterations and is designed to handle rooms up to 30 square meters. For context, Govee’s 12- and 15-inch versions deliver 2,400 and 4,300 lumens, respectively, but the new Ultra cranks that up to 5,000 lumens. It also maintains a wide color temperature range of 2,700 to 6,500K, giving users plenty of flexibility for different moods and times of day.
Like its predecessors, the Ceiling Light Ultra features a backlit ring of color-changing LEDs that casts light onto the ceiling or wall depending on installation. But the standout upgrade is the denser outward-facing array of 616 individually controllable LEDs. These can produce layered colors and abstract patterns across 100 preset lighting effects available in the Govee mobile app, including dynamic responses to music. More impressively, the array functions as a low-res screen capable of displaying custom images. Thanks to the light’s diffuser, the pixelation is softened, making the visuals appear smoother than you’d expect from such a setup.
Smart home integration is robust. The Ceiling Light Ultra is compatible with Matter, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings, so it can be automated within existing routines. Govee also introduces its new DaySync system, which automatically adjusts brightness, color, and temperature throughout the day to align with circadian rhythms and match local sunrise and sunset conditions. This feature aims to make the light not just a decorative piece but a tool for better daily living.
