Emerging from the renowned DJI ecosystem, the Amflow brand is pushing the boundaries of electric mountain biking with two new high-performance models. These eMTBs are engineered around the advanced Avinox drive system, challenging the conventional compromise between raw power, usable range, and overall weight. This strategic focus aims to deliver a category-defining riding experience.
Leading the charge are the Amflow PX and the Amflow PR. The lighter PX tips the scales at approximately 20 kilograms, while the PR model comes in around 22 kilograms. Both are propelled by Avinox’s latest M2S and M2 drive systems, which generate a formidable 1,500 watts of peak power and 150 Newton-meters of torque. This immense output necessitates careful power management to prevent damage to drivetrain components like chains and gear teeth.
A key innovation lies in the carbon fiber frames, which offer riders an exceptional degree of customization. With up to 40 potential geometric configurations, cyclists can fine-tune the bike’s handling and fit to match their specific style and the demands of the trail. For extended adventures, the Amflow PR is equipped with an 800Wh removable battery that supports hot-swapping mid-ride. This battery can also be rapidly charged, reaching 80 percent capacity in roughly 1.5 hours. An optional 600Wh secondary battery can be added to the frame for a dual-battery setup, significantly boosting total range.
The technological integration extends beyond the hardware. A 2-inch OLED touchscreen provides onboard turn-by-turn navigation, and PR models feature Apple Find My integration for security. Perhaps most impressively, the system introduces heart rate control. By pairing a compatible heart rate monitor, the bike’s motor can automatically modulate pedal assist levels to keep the rider’s effort within a predefined target zone, blending performance with biometric feedback.
Availability is currently selective. The top-tier Amflow PX Carbon is now on sale in Europe and Australia, with the base model priced at $7,999 and the Pro version at $10,199. The more accessible Amflow PR Carbon is scheduled for release later this year, starting at $4,999. The industry now watches to see if Amflow will license its potent Avinox drive systems to third-party e-bike manufacturers, as it has done previously, potentially raising performance benchmarks across the market.
