The Samsung Galaxy Book6 Ultra marks a significant departure from its predecessors, embracing a design philosophy that many will find strikingly familiar. This powerhouse laptop sheds the wedge-shaped base seen in other Galaxy Book6 models, opting instead for a sleek aluminum chassis that exudes premium quality and stability. The resemblance to a competing 16-inch professional notebook is undeniable, to the point where logos might be the only distinguishing feature. While the build is robust, the surfaces are a magnet for fingerprints and prove difficult to keep clean. The laptop’s functionality is somewhat hampered by a hinge that allows only about 135 degrees of opening and introduces noticeable screen wobble. A thick lower bezel is another visual compromise. For tinkerers, the bottom panel is removable, providing access to both SSD slots, the battery, and cooling fans, though the RAM and Wi-Fi module are permanently soldered.
Connectivity is an area where the Ultra feels constrained. The selection includes just two USB-C ports and a single USB-A port. Since the power adapter claims one of the USB-C connections, you’re often left with very few usable ports for peripherals. The integrated SD-card reader performs at a modest 80-90 MB/s, lacking support for the faster SD-Express standard. On a more positive note, the laptop is equipped with a modern Wi-Fi 7 module and Bluetooth 5.4, delivering excellent wireless transfer rates. The built-in 1080p webcam captures average-quality images for video calls and supports facial recognition login, but it does not include a physical privacy shutter for added security.
