The annual CES showcase consistently delivers some of the most unusual gadgets, and a standout from the recent event is a pair of headphones that transform into a portable speaker. A new company, Tomorrow Doesn’t Matter (TDM), introduced the Neo headphones, which feature a unique roll-up design. When coiled, the device switches from private audio to a compact Bluetooth speaker, allowing users to share music effortlessly. Originally planned for a Kickstarter launch this month, the company has shifted the campaign start date to February 10th, 2026.
Those interested can secure a significant discount by participating in the crowdfunding. The planned retail price upon the product’s July 2026 launch is $249. However, backers on Kickstarter will have access to a special pre-order price of $179, representing a $70 savings. This early-bird offer is a key incentive for the campaign.
The innovative design centers on dual drivers in each earcup. Each housing contains both inward and outward-facing 40mm drivers. In standard headphone mode, only the inward drivers are active for a personal listening session. Rolling the headphones into a circle triggers an automatic switch, deactivating the inward drivers and engaging the outward ones to project sound. A manual button is also provided for users to toggle between the two modes at will.
Initial hands-on impressions from CES 2026 noted the practical appeal of the transformation mechanism. While the additional hardware required for the dual functionality does add some noticeable weight, the actual process of rolling the headphones was described as intuitive, quick, and surprisingly enjoyable. The primary selling point remains its unique versatility, offering two distinct audio devices in one compact, if slightly hefty, package.
