The highly anticipated Xbox Developer Direct returns on January 22nd, promising a deep dive into some of the platform’s most awaited titles. This fourth annual showcase will focus on major upcoming releases, offering fans extended looks at gameplay and development insights directly from the studios.
A significant portion of the event will be dedicated to Playground Games, which is set to unveil the first official gameplay footage for Forza Horizon 6. The racing sequel, previously confirmed to be set in Japan, will showcase its vibrant open world. Players can expect to see the iconic neon-lit streets of Tokyo alongside diverse landscapes from across the country, all rendered in the series’ signature high-octane style.
The showcase will also provide a substantial update on Playground’s other major project, the long-awaited reboot of Fable. After a delay pushed its release window, the game now appears to be targeting a 2025 launch, which serendipitously coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Xbox brand. According to Xbox Wire editor-in-chief Joe Skrebels, developers will pull back the curtain on the fantasy realm of Albion, highlighting the “magic and mischief” that defines the series and presenting stunning new gameplay.
In addition to these flagship titles, the event will feature a first in-depth look at Beast of Reincarnation, a new action RPG from Game Freak, the studio famous for the Pokémon franchise. The game is scheduled for a 2026 release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Players will step into the role of a protagonist named Emma, who adventures alongside a loyal canine companion.
Viewers can tune in to the live stream on January 22nd at 1 PM Eastern Time, 10 AM Pacific Time, or 6 PM in the UK. The broadcast will be available on popular platforms including Twitch and YouTube.
