Spike Chunsoft has confirmed the upcoming removal of the digital version of the RPG Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky from the Japanese PlayStation Store. The game, developed by tri-Ace, will be delisted for PlayStation 4 on January 1, 2026, and for the PS Vita on January 5, 2026. This action applies to both the base game and all associated downloadable content. Furthermore, the company will cease new production of the physical edition, making existing retail copies the only way to obtain the game after those dates.
Originally released in Japan on December 17, 2015, for both PS4 and PS Vita, the title saw a wider global launch on October 18, 2016. The announcement currently pertains only to the Japanese market. The game’s western publisher, Aksys Games, has not yet indicated if it will follow suit with a similar delisting in other regions. For players outside Japan, the game’s availability remains unchanged for the time being.
The game’s narrative follows a group of characters who perish in a tragic accident on Earth, only to awaken on the mysterious world of Protolexa. Tasked with exploring this new realm and battling hostile entities known as Wicked, the protagonists must uncover the secrets of their resurrection and the planet’s true nature. The gameplay blends side-scrolling platforming and exploration with turn-based combat, featuring a unique skill system where abilities are tied to equipped weapons.
