Assassin’s Creed Shadows is rolling out its final major content update with version 1.1.11, set to launch tomorrow, June 16, across all platforms including the Nintendo Switch 2. This patch marks the last planned content drop for the game, bringing a new free story quest, an end-game Animus activity, and targeted performance enhancements for Nintendo’s latest console.
The headline addition is Black Tides, a fresh story quest that introduces two elite Templars known as the Black Cross. These formidable foes arrive in Japan with orders to hunt down Naoe and Yasuke, but as is typical with the Templar Order, they may harbor hidden agendas. Players must prevent the Black Cross from securing their prize while staying alive. To access this quest, you’ll need to have completed both Naoe and Yasuke’s main storylines, along with the post-launch quests “A Critical Encounter” and “A Puzzlement.”
A new end-game feature called Domains is also being introduced. This Animus activity, created by the hacker MOD, consists of five gameplay simulations across ten challenge levels. Designed to test your RPG build crafting, Domains push players to adapt their loadouts as modifiers increase with difficulty. Success earns you exclusive rewards like new outfits, weapons, trinkets, and engravings that are locked behind this mode. MOD even has its own shop with a unique currency for purchasing end-game gear sets, powerful engravings, and a progression tree. Importantly, none of these items will ever appear in the store or exchange , they are Domain-exclusive bragging rights.
Another addition is the Animus Rift: Horizon, a new rift that reveals more about the Guide. You must complete the two previous Animus Rifts to access this one.
The update also brings quality-of-life improvements to the Animus HUB. Access to HUB features in the main menu has been streamlined to match how they are accessed during gameplay, with the System menu now only reachable through the Shadows’ Memory page.
On the bug fix and gameplay front, several notable changes are included. Shuriken damage from the Bank Shot and Triple Threat tool masteries has been increased. However, abilities that destroy enemy armor are now half as effective against bosses. Fall damage has been rebalanced so enemies take damage from shorter heights, resulting in more overall fall damage. Enemy-thrown Poison Kunai and Explosive Grenades have had their damage reduced. Additionally, up to six Corrupted Castles will now be available each season.
The UI has been refined as well. Forge engraving lists have been reordered with a new Critical Category added, and several incorrect perk icons and stat sheet values have been fixed. Pins and world markers are now saved across travels in Japan and Awaji.
A significant rebalance affects adrenaline-related perks. Perks such as Adrenaline Tools, Adrenaline on Headshot, and several others have been reworked to a percentage of an adrenaline chunk and lowered in value. Conversely, the Whisper of Gold Long Katana’s perk now increases ability damage by 100% (up from 50%). Other fixes address issues with Naoe’s Kusarigama, the Blade of Yumminess, and engraving restrictions , for example, Teppo and Bow weapons can now be engraved with armor damage and armor-piercing perks, while perks with conditions like “with backstab” are now correctly limited to Tanto weapons.
Spoiler-related quest fixes include resolving progression issues in the “Gather Mon” anomaly quest, restoring Heji and the forge in “Way of the Blacksmith,” and fixing a teleportation bug in “Lost and Found.”
Finally, Nintendo Switch 2 receives specific optimizations. The update includes handheld GPU improvements to enhance performance on the new console, ensuring smoother gameplay both docked and on the go.
