The inaugural season of Pokémon Legends: Z-A Ranked Battles has officially begun, offering dedicated trainers a compelling reason to test their skills. Running through November 4, 2025, this competitive season presents a unique opportunity to earn Greninjite, the exclusive Mega Stone required for Greninja’s Mega Evolution. This special item cannot be acquired through standard gameplay, making Rank K achievement particularly valuable for collectors and battlers alike.
Rewards in Ranked Battles are distributed in three distinct ways. Participants receive immediate post-battle items regardless of match outcome, promotion rewards when advancing ranks, including helpful training resources like Mega Shards, and seasonal rewards determined by your final standing when the season concludes.
For Season 1, only Pokémon numbered 001 through 227 in the Lumiose Pokédex are permitted in competition. While you can register Pokémon of any level from 1 to 100, all combatants are automatically adjusted to level 50 during battles. Regional variants are acceptable, though duplicate species within a single team are prohibited.
The seasonal reward structure grants increasingly valuable items as players climb the ranks:
Rank A rewards include Sport Ball ×3, Gold Bottle Cap ×1, Bottle Cap ×3, Seed of Mastery ×3, and Big Nugget ×1.
To enter Ranked Battles, open Pokémon Legends: Z-A, press X to access the main menu, select Link Play, and choose Ranked Battles. Trainers must complete at least one match, regardless of the outcome, to qualify for seasonal rewards. After the season ends, rewards can be claimed by following the same steps to access the Ranked Battle menu.
Participation requires an active Nintendo Switch Online membership. Players who do not reach Rank K this season will have another chance to obtain Greninjite, as developers confirmed it will return in future seasons.
Outside Ranked Battles, the first distribution event for Pokémon Legends: Z-A is now live, offering additional opportunities for players to expand their in-game collections.
