Oman Data Park has significantly enhanced its cloud service portfolio with the official opening of a new Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Secondary Dedicated Region in Wilayat Ibri. This strategic expansion, developed in collaboration with ITHCA Group and Oracle, represents a critical step forward for Oman’s digital transformation journey and reinforces the country’s role as a hub for sovereign cloud technology in the region.
The Ibri facility operates as a mirror site to the existing primary OCI region in Muscat, with both locations connected through redundant 10Gbps high-speed links. This architecture guarantees low-latency performance, high availability, and comprehensive disaster recovery support. The dual-region configuration allows businesses and government bodies to ensure uninterrupted operations, maintain data sovereignty, and meet regulatory requirements, all while gaining access to more than 200 Oracle Cloud services across infrastructure, platform, and software-as-a-service models.
Organizations can now confidently run artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced analytics workloads, develop cloud-native applications, and deploy automated disaster recovery solutions, all within Oman’s national borders to ensure data security and compliance.
According to Eng. Maqbool Al Wahaibi, CEO of Oman Data Park, the launch of the secondary region in Ibri marks a pivotal moment for the nation’s digital ecosystem. He emphasized that it boosts national resilience, accelerates innovation across government and enterprise sectors, and solidifies Oman’s reputation as a leading digital hub in the region.
Eng. Said Al Mandhari, CEO of ITHCA Group, highlighted that this achievement stems from a shared commitment to public-private cooperation aimed at building a more intelligent and interconnected Oman. He noted that the partnership between ODP and Oracle creates a robust platform for secure, AI-enabled services tailored for both government and commercial use.
This initiative is fully aligned with the broader objectives of Oman Vision 2040, supporting national ambitions for economic diversification, technological advancement, and secure digital transformation. The dual-region setup provides automatic failover, real-time data replication, and cybersecurity measures that meet international standards, delivering exceptional reliability to Omani enterprises.
By building on a longstanding collaboration with Oracle, Oman Data Park continues to deliver enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure supported by local expertise and strict data residency policies. This ongoing effort ensures that Oman remains at the forefront of the region’s evolving digital economy.
