Telecom Egypt has significantly expanded its international network by establishing a new Point of Presence (PoP) at Jordan’s Aqaba Digital Hub. This strategic move enhances the company’s regional influence and bolsters connectivity across the Middle East, providing a vital link to one of the area’s most important carrier-neutral data centers.

The newly installed PoP will function as a central interconnection point, facilitating smooth data transfer and improving the flow of regional internet traffic. It directly addresses the rising need for high-bandwidth solutions, offering hyperscale cloud providers and large enterprises a dependable infrastructure capable of supporting demanding applications like artificial intelligence and international data transit services.

This development is closely tied to the recent activation of the Coral Bridge subsea cable system, a high-capacity 15-kilometer link that connects Egypt’s Taba landing station to the open-access facility in Aqaba. Built in collaboration with NaiTel, the telecommunications division of ADH, the cable and the new PoP work in tandem to create a highly resilient and robust foundation for digital communication spanning the region and beyond.

Mohamed Nasr, the CEO of Telecom Egypt, emphasized that these projects represent a fundamental shift toward building a stronger and more reliable digital backbone for the Middle East. Eyad Abu Khorma, CEO of Aqaba Digital Hub, echoed this sentiment, noting that the partnership successfully merges Egypt’s extensive subsea cable reach with Aqaba’s neutral landing station, effectively opening new digital pathways throughout the region.
