Škoda’s New EV Set to Become Its Priciest Model Yet

▼ Summary

– Škoda, based in Mladá Boleslav, is one of Europe’s most successful EV manufacturers, with the Elroq currently the best-selling electric car in Europe.
– The upcoming Epiq will be an affordable electric car priced around $30,000, offering interior space similar to the Kamiq or Karoq while being similar in size to the Fabia.
– The Epiq will compete with Volkswagen, Cupra, Renault, and Kia models in the affordable EV category.
– Škoda is preparing the Peaq, a large family SUV available in a seven-seat configuration, expected to be 16 feet, 5 inches long.
– The Peaq will use the MEB platform and may feature a larger battery similar to the ID.Buzz and ID.7, with an official presentation expected soon.

Despite dire predictions that the shift toward electric vehicles would devastate the European , and especially Czech , automotive sector, Škoda, headquartered in Mladá Boleslav, has emerged as one of the continent’s standout EV manufacturers.

After the runaway success of the Enyaq, the company followed up with the Elroq, a smaller sibling that now holds the title of Europe’s best-selling electric car. That crown may soon pass to the even more compact Epiq, which offers a slightly reduced range but a far more accessible price tag , roughly $30,000 in U. S. dollars, though it won’t be sold in North America.

The Epiq is designed to feel like a Fabia from the outside but delivers interior space closer to the Kamiq or Karoq. It will vie for buyers in the growing market for affordable EVs, going head-to-head with its Volkswagen Group cousins , the ID. Polo, ID. Cross, and possibly the Cupra Raval , as well as rivals from Renault and Kia. Sales expectations are high.

Yet Škoda isn’t resting on its laurels. Even before the Epiq reaches showrooms, the automaker is teasing another model , this time from the opposite end of the price spectrum.

Despite its reputation as a budget-friendly brand, Škoda has no plans to build its own version of the tiny Volkswagen ID. Every1 (whatever that model ends up being called). Instead, it’s preparing a vehicle that will become a flagship for the MEB platform, the modular architecture shared across the Volkswagen Group. The only larger model currently available on this proven , if aging , platform is the retro-styled ID. Buzz van.

Enter the Škoda Peaq, a large family SUV that will also offer a seven-seat configuration and measure approximately 16 feet, 5 inches in length. Given the platform, expect technology similar to that found in the Elroq and Enyaq. However, the longer wheelbase opens the door for a larger battery pack, akin to the one used in the ID. Buzz and the spacious ID.7. The Vision 7S concept SUV, which Škoda has been teasing for years, was already slated to feature an 89-kWh battery.

Technical specifications will have to wait until the Peaq’s official unveiling, expected soon. But for now, we already have a solid preview of what the new model will look like.
