Google has officially released Veo 3.1, the latest iteration of its advanced video generation model, now available within the Flow video editor, the Gemini App, and through Vertex and Gemini APIs. This update delivers significant improvements in audio output quality, offers more granular editing controls, and enhances the process of converting images into video. Building directly upon the foundation of the Veo 3 model launched in May, Veo 3.1 is engineered to produce more realistic video clips and demonstrates a stronger ability to accurately follow user prompts.

A standout feature of this new model is its sophisticated object manipulation. Users can now seamlessly add new objects into a video sequence, with the AI intelligently ensuring the object blends perfectly into the existing clip’s visual style and aesthetic. Google has also confirmed that a complementary feature, allowing users to remove existing objects from videos directly within Flow, will be introduced in the near future.

The capabilities of the previous Veo 3 version are significantly expanded with this release. Existing functionalities, such as using a reference image to guide a character’s appearance, generating a full clip by providing only the first and last frames, and extending an existing video based on its concluding frames, are all now augmented with high-quality audio generation. This integration of synchronized sound makes the resulting video clips far more dynamic and engaging.

Since its initial debut in May, the Flow video editor has seen massive adoption. Google reports that users have already created an impressive total of more than 275 million videos using the application, underscoring the growing demand for accessible and powerful AI-driven video creation tools.
