Travel companies across the Asia Pacific region recently joined forces for a hackathon focused on revolutionizing the travel experience through artificial intelligence. Participants integrated Amadeus Self-Service APIs with Google Cloud’s advanced AI tools, including Gemini Models, Vertex AI’s Agent Engine, and the Agent Development Kit. The central goal was to completely rethink how travelers search, book, and receive service, with a special emphasis on travel shopping and reservations powered by agentic AI.
A diverse group of industry leaders took part, such as AsiaOneClick, PKFARE, CIT, Clear Trip, Richmond Tours, Golden Destinations, House of Travel, MakeMyTrip.com, Shindai/BCDTravel, Trip.com, and Travel Cue.
The innovative concepts presented spanned several areas. Some teams focused on enhancing corporate travel by using AI to predict disruptions more accurately. Others developed AI-driven personalized trip planning tools aimed at budget-conscious travelers. Several entries also featured booking processes that incorporated AI-generated imagery, visually placing the traveler into different moments of their journey.
A judging panel with representatives from both Amadeus and Google evaluated the projects based on multiple factors, including the quality of each pitch. The top-performing teams were announced as follows:
- Winner – Trip.com, for “Click & Go – Your personalized travel assistant”
- First Runner-up – ClearTrip, for “MyTravel.ai – Personalized Inspiration”
- Second Runner-up – Richmond Travels, for “RABBIT – Easy Business Travel Assistance”
