Hitachi Vantara has announced the appointment of Dave Wardrop as the new Chief Technology Officer and Director of Solution Consulting for Australia and New Zealand. This strategic move is effective immediately and reinforces the company’s commitment to strengthening its technical leadership across the region. Wardrop will be based in Canberra and will report directly to Matthew Hardman, the Chief Technology Officer for APAC at Hitachi Vantara.

In his new capacity, Wardrop will lead the technical sales strategy for Australia and New Zealand, focusing on the increasing market demand for advanced data storage systems, infrastructure solutions, and hybrid cloud management services. His leadership is expected to drive the company’s growth by aligning technical expertise with evolving customer needs.

Bringing more than 25 years of professional experience to the role, Wardrop has a substantial background in IT consulting, network engineering, infrastructure management, and professional services. He has been with Hitachi Vantara for three years, during which he played a pivotal role in shaping technical strategies for several key Federal Government agencies in Australia. His work has been especially influential in delivering sophisticated defence solutions in highly complex environments.

Before joining Hitachi Vantara, Wardrop served as the Federal Systems Engineering Manager at Nutanix, where he dedicated five years to assisting government clients with hybrid cloud implementations. His earlier career included significant positions at EMC in both Australia and the United Kingdom, where he held leadership roles in technology consulting and professional services.

Matthew Hardman commented on the appointment, stating, “Dave demonstrates high empathy for people, strategic direction, and a deep understanding of the functionality of our technology including its application in complex customer environments.” He added, “He embodies the Hitachi Vantara spirit of not only doing the right thing for the customer, but also has a strong connection for doing what’s right for his team and those around him. We are delighted to have him join the team and contribute to delivering meaningful outcomes for customers as they seek to manage data across mission-critical environments and the explosive growth of processing required for generative and agentic AI.”

Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Wardrop said, “Hitachi Vantara has consistently set the benchmark for delivering solutions that solve complex IT challenges, fundamentally transform processes and unlock efficiencies through hybrid cloud, automation and data intelligence. My new role as CTO and Director of Solution Consulting for Australia and New Zealand gives me an incredible opportunity to build on that foundation. I look forward to supporting the deployment of Hitachi Vantara’s solutions among enterprises and public sector agencies, and in turn accelerating their ability to scale, fast-track AI innovation, harvest real-time insights, reduce complexity, and continuously deliver customer value.”
