A new social media platform emerging from Bucharest, designed to combat misinformation and algorithmic opacity, has secured €300,000 in pre-seed funding. The investment comes from Fil Rouge Capital, an early-stage venture fund that expanded its operations into Romania. Named eYou, the startup was founded by French serial entrepreneurs Grégoire Vigroux and Jasseem Allybokus, who have deep roots in the Romanian business landscape. The platform is scheduled for a full public launch, with a waitlist currently active for interested users.
The core innovation of eYou lies in its integrated fact-checking system. When a user engages with a post, an AI-powered assessment instantly appears, summarizing the veracity of the claims using what the company terms credible and neutral sources. This feature aims to allow real-time challenges to false information without disrupting the natural flow of online conversation. Alongside this, eYou introduces a transparent feed algorithm. Users can view and modify the profile the system builds about them, actively choosing to broaden their content exposure and step outside of personalized echo chambers.
These functions are direct answers to two major criticisms of existing social networks: the rapid spread of unverified information and the creation of insular ideological bubbles. The founders argue that current platforms prioritize engagement over integrity, a trend they intend to reverse. Built with GDPR compliance and European data protection standards as foundational principles, eYou positions itself as a distinct alternative to dominant U.S.-based services, aligning with the regulatory expectations of European users.
Grégoire Vigroux, serving as co-founder and CCO, brings extensive entrepreneurial experience from the Romanian ecosystem. He previously co-founded and scaled a business process outsourcing company that was later acquired, and has been involved in several other ventures, including a food waste app and a refurbished electronics store. His partner, Jasseem Allybokus, the CEO, provides technical expertise from his prior role as CTO at a digital marketing technology firm and as a co-founder of a creative writing community platform.
The pre-seed financing was secured through Fil Rouge Capital’s accelerator program, which offers early-stage funding with a potential pathway to further venture capital investment. The fund’s local Venture Partner highlighted the founders’ strong track record and the critical importance of their mission to rebuild trust in digital spaces. While eYou will be available globally on iOS, Android, and web platforms, its core architecture and strategic vision are firmly rooted in European values of transparency and accountability.
