Good news for collectors and fans of the acclaimed RPG: Amazon has restocked its exclusive Mirror Edition of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. This special set, which returned to availability on December 22, bundles a physical copy of the recent Game of the Year winner with a unique steelbook case, three art cards, and a large display box featuring new artwork.

Finding a physical PS5 copy has proven difficult compared to the Xbox version. Currently, Amazon’s $60 Mirror Edition is the only PlayStation 5 physical option readily available. The standard PS5 edition is listed as temporarily out of stock, though orders can still be placed. Notably, Amazon is pricing that standard edition at $60, a $10 increase over its original $50 MSRP, which matches the price of the feature-packed Mirror Edition. Other major retailers show the standard PS5 edition as completely sold out, and GameStop’s exclusive $70 Lumiere Edition reprint is also unavailable. In contrast, the standard Xbox edition remains at its $50 price point and is in stock at several retailers, while digital Steam keys are discounted to just $36 on Fanatical.

The success of Sandfall Interactive’s debut title has been remarkable. The game boasts an impressive 92 aggregate score on Metacritic from critics, including a 9/10 from GameSpot, alongside a strong 9.6/10 user rating. Its accolades include winning the top prize at The Game Awards and securing GameSpot’s own Game of the Year award.

However, following its award sweep, news emerged that Sandfall Interactive utilized generative AI tools during the RPG’s development. The studio clarified that no AI artwork exists in the current game, explaining that “temporary placeholder textures” were accidentally included in the initial launch build last April. This revelation led The Indie Game Awards to retroactively disqualify Clair Obscur for breaking its rules against generative AI use, resulting in the forfeiture of two awards: Best Debut Indie Game and Game of the Year.
