Amazon’s recent fall showcase in Manhattan unveiled a host of new and upgraded devices across its popular product lines, including Echo, Kindle, Ring, Blink, and Fire TV. The event placed a strong emphasis on hardware, marking a notable shift from the Alexa-centric announcements made earlier this year. While Alexa+ remains in Early Access for millions, Amazon is now positioning it as the connective tissue for its ecosystem, describing the vision as “ambient AI” that integrates seamlessly into daily life.

Panos Panay, Amazon’s SVP of products and services, opened by explaining that while each product excels individually, they become even more powerful when linked through Alexa+. The company’s strategy centers on creating technology that recedes into the background, enhancing experiences without demanding attention.

Kindle Scribe and Kindle Scribe Colorsoft stood out as major highlights. Panay expressed strong enthusiasm for the super-slim, productivity-focused ereader, which measures just 5.4mm thick. To achieve this sleek design, Amazon miniaturized LED lighting and incorporated a whisper-thin antenna. They also focused on eliminating parallax, the gap between screen, pen, and digital ink, reducing lag to under 12 milliseconds for a natural writing feel. The goal was to replicate the tactile feedback of paper, complete with subtle friction and sound.

The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft introduces vibrant color display capabilities, supported by an improved color rendering engine to ensure accuracy. Avani Parakh, director of product at Kindle, emphasized that the Scribe has been “reimagined for productivity,” offering features like Quick Notes, a digital scratchpad, and Workspace, a file organization tool aimed at students. Users can import and export files directly from Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and OneNote. AI-powered integrations will allow notes to be sent to Alexa+ starting next year, enabling voice queries about content. The assistant can also answer questions about books without spoilers.

The standard Kindle Scribe starts at $429.99 for a non-lit version arriving early next year, while the front-lit model begins at $499.99. The Colorsoft version is priced at $629.99, with both expected to launch in the US later this year.

In the home security space, Ring introduced nine new doorbell and camera models, most available for preorder. These devices offer improved image quality in 2K and 4K resolutions, with up to 10x zoom on select models. Ring Retinal Vision uses AI to adapt image clarity based on the scene. A new Familiar Faces feature identifies friends and family, sending personalized alerts through the app. Combined with Alexa+ Greetings, an intelligent doorbell companion launching in December, the system can interact with visitors, offering instructions or asking their purpose.

One of the most anticipated additions is Search Party, a pet-finding tool rolling out in November for dogs, with support for cats and other animals to follow. If a pet goes missing, the app scans footage from nearby Ring cameras. The search radius isn’t limited by streets or ZIP codes; instead, AI determines a flexible multi-mile area around the home.

New Blink cameras also made their debut, with the Blink Arc model standing out thanks to its dual-camera design. The two feeds merge into a single 180-degree panoramic view, eliminating blind spots and the need to toggle between cameras. Amy Widemann, head of marketing for Ring and Blink, highlighted how the Arc prevents missed moments, showing a continuous view of activity like children playing across a driveway. The Arc is priced at $99.99, with an optional mount for $19.99. Blink also introduced the Outdoor 2K+ ($89.99) with 4x zoom and noise-canceling audio, and the indoor Mini 2K+ ($49.99).

Amazon’s Fire TV lineup is also expanding with more affordable and high-performance options. The flagship Omni QLED Series starts at $479.99, offering a 60% brighter screen and a 40% faster chip. Budget-friendly models include the 2-Series starting at $159.99 and the 4-Series from $329.99. All integrate Alexa+, which can recommend shows, answer questions about live content like sports scores, and even help users decide what to watch with family. The new Fire TV Stick 4K Select, priced under $40, runs the Vega OS and encourages developers to build new apps for the platform.

Finally, Amazon introduced a new generation of Echo devices built specifically for Alexa+. The Echo Dot Max leads the lineup at $99.99, featuring 3D knit fabric and upgraded AZ3 or AZ3 Pro chips for faster, AI-enhanced performance. Other models include the Echo Studio ($219.99), Echo Show 8 ($179.99), and Echo Show 11 ($219.99). A new Omnisense sensor platform detects when someone enters a room, enabling proactive alerts, a feature also available on Fire TVs. Users can link up to five Echo speakers for immersive surround sound, ideal for movies or Audible’s upcoming Harry Potter immersive audiobooks.

Daniel Rausch, VP of Alexa and Echo, noted that routines, such as locking doors at night, are among the most popular Alexa+ uses, driving smart home adoption. All new Echo devices ship with Alexa+ enabled, and Panay assured customers of its reliability, easing concerns about its readiness for daily use.
