The inaugural GSMA MWC25 Doha is poised to become a landmark technology gathering, drawing a global audience to explore the profound impact of artificial intelligence, 5G networks, and digital economies. Set for November 25–26 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, this first-ever MWC event in the Middle East and North Africa region is a cornerstone of Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030. The event promises to assemble an impressive roster of over 200 speakers and 150 exhibitors, with a significant 80% of participants coming from international markets.
During a recent press briefing, the GSMA and Qatar’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) outlined the event’s strategic importance. His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, the Minister, emphasized that hosting MWC25 Doha is a critical milestone. It underscores Qatar’s dedication to advancing digital transformation and firmly establishes Doha as a global nexus for technology, policy, and innovation. The attendee profile is notably senior, with more than 40 percent of participants holding director-level positions or higher, representing over 60 countries.
The event will feature a world-class lineup of technology leaders, with confirmed participation from major players like Cisco, Dell, Google Cloud, Microsoft, Nokia, and Huawei, alongside leading Qatari entities such as Ooredoo and Meeza, a prominent data centre and AI services provider. This convergence of global and local expertise is designed to strengthen Qatar’s role as a premier destination for high-level technology dialogue. Minister Al Mannai added that by bringing the world’s leading ICT voices to Doha, the event will foster crucial discussions on the future shaped by AI, 5G, and evolving digital economies.
A significant development following the briefing was the signing of five Memoranda of Understanding with key local partners, including the Communications Regulatory Authority, Qatar University, and Media City Qatar. These agreements with organizations like Ooredoo and Vodafone solidify the foundational support for the inaugural event. Vivek Badrinath, Director General of the GSMA, expressed excitement about launching the first regional MWC in Doha, citing the MENA region’s dynamic digital market and Qatar’s forward-thinking policy environment as ideal conditions for success.
The two-day agenda is structured around pivotal themes: AI Nexus, Intelligent Economies, and Connected Industries. It will delve into how technologies like AI, intelligent infrastructure, fintech, and mobility are reshaping societies. Attendees can experience the regional debut of 4YFN, the official MWC startup platform, alongside the GSMA Ministerial Program and the GSMA Digital Leaders Program. The event will also co-host Smart City Expo Doha, a spin-off from the world’s leading urban innovation event, further enriching the dialogue on smart urban transformation.
