The new hybrid model aims to balance consistency with flexibility, allowing teams to intentionally design schedules that maximize impact. Importantly, this shift is not linked to workforce reduction but is focused on enhancing how employees connect and create together. Enhanced safety and security protocols will also be implemented to support a productive on-site environment.

Employees based within 50 miles of a Puget Sound office will transition to the three-day in-office expectation by the end of February 2026. Personalized emails with detailed guidance are being sent out, and individuals may request exceptions by September 19. Managers will receive specific resources via the Managers@Microsoft SharePoint site to help lead their teams through this change.

Leadership across each business unit will provide tailored direction, acknowledging that some teams may adopt slightly different approaches based on operational needs. Employees outside the Puget Sound area should await further communication from their executive vice president, as US-wide expansion will follow initial implementation. International locations will begin planning in 2026.
