TCS deploys 8,900 AI engineers to defend India’s IT model

Tata Consultancy Services is assembling a force of up to 8,900 forward-deployed AI engineers, a strategic move that directly addresses the existential question facing India’s IT sector since agentic AI entered enterprise technology stacks. Chief executive K Krithivasan confirmed the recruitment drive and revealed that TCS is actively scouting for acquisition targets in both AI and cybersecurity.
