Verizon has unveiled a new Simplicity plan priced at $30 per month for new customers, with existing subscribers paying $45 per month. The carrier touts the plan as a straightforward alternative to complex pricing structures, eliminating both activation and upgrade fees in favor of a single flat rate per line.

The $30 promotional offer for new customers kicks in after enabling autopay and switching carriers, according to Verizon’s announcement. However, to skip the carrier’s standard $40 activation or upgrade fee, customers must first enroll in Verizon’s new loyalty program through the My Verizon app. This program introduces a Verizon Dollars perk, giving users 3 percent cash back on their monthly bill, along with a Verizon Shine benefit that unlocks access to ticket sales, sweepstakes, and giveaways.

The Simplicity plan delivers unlimited access to Verizon’s 5G ultrawideband network, 10GB of mobile hotspot data, roaming in Canada and Mexico, and satellite texting on compatible devices. Subscribers can also add a home internet plan for $35 per month and bundle streaming services such as Netflix, Disney Plus, Hulu, and HBO Max for an extra charge. Verizon emphasizes that customers can “continue to enjoy” perks available through myPlan.

“For too long, this industry has burdened people with complex plans, forced upgrades they don’t need, and so-called ‘rewards’ with tons of caveats,” said Verizon CEO Dan Schulman in a press release. Schulman took the helm last year as the carrier entered what board chair Mark Bertolini called Verizon’s “next phase of increased customer focus.”

In addition to the Simplicity plan, Verizon announced a Verizon One subscription that bundles unlimited 5G connectivity and home internet for $70 per month. This offer is limited to new customers, though the company notes that existing subscribers can still benefit from its Mobile + Home discount.
