Tractive, having integrated its competitor Whistle into its portfolio last year, is now launching two new devices that expand health data collection for both cats and dogs. The new Cat 6 Mini offers a more refined design and tracks vital signs, while the Dog 6 XL is built for larger, active breeds with significant improvements to durability and battery performance.

Available immediately, the Cat 6 Mini is priced at $79 and the Dog 6 XL at $89. They come in various colors and require a subscription service. The Basic Plan, costing $108 annually, includes core features like unlimited live tracking, virtual fences, and escape alerts. For more extensive needs, the Premium Plan is $120 per year and adds worldwide coverage, family sharing, a full year of location history, and GPS data export options. Multi-year subscriptions offer further savings.

Feline-focused technology has often lagged behind innovations for dogs, but the new Cat 6 Mini aims to close that gap. Its design is a notable improvement, presenting a sleeker profile that resembles a collar rather than an attached box. Beyond aesthetics, its core innovation is health monitoring, tracking a cat’s resting heart rate and respiratory rate. This data can provide early indicators of stress, illness, or discomfort. The accompanying app also gives owners deeper insights into their cat’s behavior, mapping territory changes, roaming habits, and preferred resting spots.

For larger canine companions, the Dog 6 XL is engineered for animals over 55 pounds. Tractive emphasizes its rugged construction for outdoor adventures and a major leap in battery life, which is now up to three times longer than the previous model. Where older units lasted roughly four weeks, the new tracker can operate for significantly longer between charges. Its health tracking suite is also enhanced with a new system that analyzes scratching behavior. Changes in this pattern can serve as an alert for potential issues like allergies, skin irritation, or elevated stress levels.

Looking ahead, Tractive plans to release an upgraded variant of the Dog 6 XL later this summer, featuring an ultra-durable case for the most demanding environments.
