Google Pixel’s New Notification Organizer Rolls Out

▼ Summary

– Google is rolling out a Notification Organizer feature to Pixel devices running Android 16 QPR2, following its AI Summaries feature.
– The feature is enabled by default in Settings and requires the system language to be set to English in specific countries like the US, UK, and Japan.
– It automatically sorts alerts into categories such as Promotions, News, Social, and Suggested, with the first two categories active by default.
– Organized notifications appear in the “Silent” section of the notification shade with AI-sparkle badges and can be expanded to view full alerts.
– The rollout is currently seen on the Pixel 9 (excluding 9a) and Pixel 10 series, and a device restart may be required if the feature is not yet available.

Google’s latest software update for its Pixel phones introduces a new tool designed to declutter your notification panel. This feature, called the Notification Organizer, is now becoming available to users running the Android 16 QPR2 beta. It follows the recent deployment of AI Summaries and aims to automatically sort your alerts into manageable groups, helping you quickly find what matters most.

To access the feature, navigate to your device’s Settings app, then go to Notifications. You should find the Notification Organizer toggle near the top of the menu. Unlike the previous AI Summaries tool, this organizer is turned on by default once it arrives on your phone. For the feature to appear and function, your device’s primary system language must be set to English. It is currently rolling out in a select group of countries, including Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The organizer intelligently categorizes incoming alerts into four distinct groups: Promotions, News, Social, and Suggested. The Promotions and News categories are active from the start, but you will need to manually enable the Social and Suggested bundles if you wish to use them. There is also a useful setting to “Always expand bundles,” which prevents the notifications from being collapsed by default.

Within your notification shade, these organized bundles appear in the “Silent” section. Each category is marked with a distinctive AI sparkle icon badge, while the icons from the apps contained within are neatly stacked on the right-hand side. Tapping on a bundle expands it, allowing you to view and interact with the full list of notifications from that category.

If you are running the correct software version but do not see the Notification Organizer option yet, a simple restart of your Pixel device may trigger its appearance. Early reports indicate the feature is live on the Pixel 9 (excluding the 9a model) and the Pixel 10 series as part of this ongoing update.
