For players diving into Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, amiibo figures offer a range of special in-game bonuses when tapped on the Nintendo Switch 2. These collectibles provide everything from cosmetic changes to gameplay enhancements, adding another layer of engagement for dedicated fans.
Three new amiibo are launching alongside the game: Samus, Samus & Vi-O-La, and Sylux. While older Metroid series amiibo are also supported, figures from other Nintendo franchises will not work with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Details on the specific unlocks for each figure have been shared on Nintendo’s official Japanese amiibo site.
Using the new Samus amiibo grants two distinct rewards. First, it enables a music player feature, letting you listen to background tracks while piloting Vi-O-La in the Sol Valley region. Second, it provides a daily shield bonus that increases Samus’s health by 99 points and restores any health lost in combat. This shield lasts until it is broken by enemy attacks and can only be reused after the daily reset.
The Samus & Vi-O-La amiibo also unlocks two features. You can customize Vi-O-La’s color scheme and receive a daily boost to its regeneration ability. Each scan will additionally display the total distance you’ve traveled using Vi-O-La. Similar to the Samus shield, the regeneration boost is limited to one use per day.
Tapping the Sylux amiibo, available when the game launches on December 4, 2025, unlocks a unique cutscene. Nintendo notes that this scene can eventually be viewed without the amiibo, but only after players have achieved 100% item collection and completed all logbook scans through normal gameplay. Each scan of the Sylux amiibo also plays a random voice line from the character.
Owners of earlier Metroid series amiibo, such as Ridley, Metroid, Samus, and E.M.M.I., will find that scanning them plays a short jingle from the game. This provides a small but pleasant nod to longtime supporters of the series.
These amiibo features offer both practical advantages and fun extras, giving collectors tangible reasons to add these figures to their shelves.
