Saudi Arabia has taken a major step toward technological sovereignty with the launch of the Saudi Quantum Network (SQN) Alliance, a strategic national project designed to cement the Kingdom’s position as a pioneer in quantum communications and cybersecurity. Announced by the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), this initiative unites key players from both the public and private sectors to build a robust ecosystem for next-generation secure networks.
The alliance features collaboration with leading national and international organizations, including Cybrani, an Aramco Digital subsidiary, alongside Salam, Microsoft, and Cisco. This partnership is structured to accelerate the development and practical implementation of quantum-based technologies within the Kingdom. By pooling resources and expertise, the coalition aims to construct highly secure communication infrastructures that leverage the unique properties of quantum mechanics.
Eng. Ibrahim Alshadokhi, who leads KACST’s Internet Services Unit, described the SQN Alliance as a national collaboration model that bridges government and industry.
