Apple Releases watchOS 26.1, tvOS 26.1 Release Candidates

Apple has moved one step closer to launching its next major software updates, with release candidate versions of watchOS 26.1 and tvOS 26.1 now available to developers and beta testers. This signals that the final public releases are imminent, following roughly a month of testing across Apple’s ecosystem. The updates span multiple platforms, including iOS 26.1, iPadOS 26.1, macOS Tahoe 26.1, visionOS 26.1, and HomePod 26.1.

Historically, Apple rolls out public versions within a week or so after release candidates appear, though timing can vary by a few days. The most significant enhancements observed during the beta phase have been concentrated on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Users can expect new Liquid Glass customization toggles, a broader rollout of Apple Intelligence language capabilities, and the revival of Slide Over multitasking on iPad, alongside various smaller refinements.

In contrast, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS, and HomePod software have seen fewer visible changes. The Apple TV app icon has been refreshed, likely to align with the streaming service’s upcoming more vibrant branding, but the app itself remains functionally similar in the betas. For these platforms, the updates may primarily deliver bug fixes, security patches, and performance enhancements rather than flashy new features.

As the official launch approaches, any additional changes discovered will be shared. Have you spotted anything new while testing watchOS 26.1, tvOS 26.1, or visionOS 26.1? Share your observations in the comments section below.
