The highly anticipated first season of Skate, titled Hesh & Fresh, launches next week, immersing players in a vibrant 1990s-inspired world. This inaugural season, running from October 7th through December 2nd, introduces expansive new areas, a variety of events, fresh challenges, and numerous cosmetic items for players to discover and unlock.

A significant visual upgrade will enhance the city of San Van, making it feel more authentic and lived-in with an improved lighting system. Players can engage with the new skate.Pass to earn a special seasonal currency known as Tix. This currency is used exclusively to purchase a range of cosmetic rewards, allowing for greater personalization of their skating experience.

Two major themed events will punctuate the season. The first, Skate-o-Ween, is a Halloween celebration running from October 21st to November 11th, focusing on fun and whimsical outfits. Following that, the 7-Ply Maple Harvest event will take place from November 18th until the season ends on December 2nd. This event pays homage to the 1970s era of skateboarding, specifically highlighting the maple wood used in skateboard construction during that period. Both events will feature specially decorated community parks and offer unique themed cosmetic items for participants.

Beyond the events, the season is packed with new content. Players can tackle 40 new challenges that will rotate on a weekly basis, ensuring a steady stream of fresh objectives. The in-game store will be stocked with gear from new brands, and the soundtrack will be amplified with 21 new tracks from iconic 90s artists such as Bad Religion, Dinosaur Jr., and Ice Cube.

Since its early access release last month, Skate has been met with considerable success. Players have enthusiastically shared their impressive stunts across social media platforms. The game’s popularity was immediately evident, with significant player traffic causing lengthy queues on its first day. A review of the early access version praised the title, noting the return of the “wheelie classic” with excellent handling mechanics set within a surprisingly pleasant world.

The game is published by Electronic Arts (EA), a company that recently announced a planned private acquisition. A consortium of investors, which includes Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, is involved in a private transaction valued at $55 billion to acquire the company.
