Sony has officially launched a major software update for the PlayStation 5, introducing two highly anticipated features: a dedicated Power Saving mode for select games and enhanced multi-device pairing for DualSense controllers. These additions, previously available only in beta, are now rolling out globally as part of system update version 25.06-12.00.00.

The new Power Saving mode offers players the ability to reduce their console’s energy consumption during gameplay, though this comes with a trade-off in performance. According to Sony’s official release notes, this feature may prove especially useful for future hardware, including the rumored PlayStation handheld device. Gamers can enable or disable Power Saving for compatible titles by navigating to Settings > System > Power Saving > Use Power Saver. When active, a visual indicator appears beside supported games in the Switcher menu or control center.

Alongside the energy efficiency upgrade, Sony has also refined the connectivity experience for its wireless controllers. Both the standard DualSense and premium DualSense Edge models now support pairing with up to four different devices at the same time. This eliminates the need for repetitive manual reconnection when moving between a PS5, PC, or cloud streaming service, making the transition between platforms smoother and more intuitive.
