The highly anticipated tactical tabletop RPG Successor has officially launched on the Meta Quest platform, bringing its unique blend of strategy and immersive gameplay to virtual reality enthusiasts. This roguelite adventure features full mixed reality capabilities, allowing players to engage with a dynamic world that blends physical and digital environments. A PC VR version is currently in development and expected to follow at a later stage.

Created by Playwood Project, the game transforms traditional tabletop gaming into a vivid interactive experience. Players observe the action as though miniature figures have sprung to life on a virtual game board, with each campaign procedurally generated to ensure no two playthroughs are alike. Gamers select a lord and direct a team of heroes through real-time battles, though a pause feature offers the flexibility to assess situations carefully. The camera can be zoomed in for detailed views of the action or pulled back for a broader tactical overview.

The central objective involves overthrowing a succession of oppressive rulers, with each victory granting a new crown that unlocks additional capabilities. These crowns enable players to summon powerful creatures, seize control of towers, and leverage elevation for critical strategic advantages. Progressing through the game reveals new heroes, valuable loot, and unexplored regions, while optional difficulty modifiers allow players to tailor the challenge to their preference.

Following its unexpected release on Quest last week, Successor is also slated to arrive on PC VR. The standard flatscreen edition entered early access in May, and while PC VR support is confirmed for the future, a studio representative clarified that it will not be available until the game’s full launch. It remains unclear whether the VR edition will debut simultaneously with version 1.0, and further updates will be shared as details emerge.

Successor is available now across the entire Meta Quest platform.
