Apple’s 25W MagSafe Charger Now Works With Android Phones

▼ Summary

Apple’s new charger, previously leaked in June, is now available for $39 (1-meter cable) or $49 (2-meter cable) through their online store.
– The iPhone 16 introduced 25W wireless charging ahead of the Qi2.2 specification’s official release earlier this year.
– Initially, only Apple’s own wireless charger supported the 25W rate for the iPhone 16.
– The iPhone 17 lineup and most iPhone 16 models (after iOS 26 update) are Qi2.2 compatible, enabling 25W charging with any Qi2.2-supported charger.
– The iPhone Air supports a maximum of only 20W wireless charging.

Apple’s latest 25W MagSafe Charger has expanded its compatibility, now supporting select Android smartphones alongside Apple devices. This development offers greater flexibility for users invested in the MagSafe ecosystem, providing a convenient magnetic charging solution across different mobile platforms.

The charger first appeared in regulatory filings with Taiwan’s National Communications Commission last June before becoming available for purchase. Customers can choose between two options: a 1-meter USB-C cable version priced at $39, or a longer 2-meter variant costing $49. Both are currently sold through Apple’s official online store.

Originally, Apple introduced 25W wireless charging with the iPhone 16 ahead of the official Qi2.2 specification rollout earlier this year. At that time, achieving the full 25W speed required using Apple’s proprietary wireless charger. Now, with the iPhone 17 series fully Qi 2.2 compatible, and most iPhone 16 models gaining support through the iOS 26 update, users can reach 25W charging speeds with any Qi2.2-certified wireless charger.

It’s worth noting that those upgrading to the iPhone Air will experience slightly slower wireless charging, capped at a maximum of 20W. This makes the new MagSafe Charger an especially appealing option for iPhone users seeking faster, more efficient power delivery.
