While some features roll out gradually, the changes reflect Google’s ongoing effort to refine the ecosystem.

The updates cover several core components, including Google Play services, the Play Store, and system-level enhancements. Not every feature listed is immediately available to all users, as many undergo phased releases over weeks or months.

In the Google Play services version 25.35 released on September 8, several notable changes were introduced. The Document Scanner now supports expressive design, offering more creative options for digitizing documents. Connectivity improvements include bug fixes for Device Connections on phones and Wear OS devices. A significant privacy upgrade makes Phone Theft Protection enabled by default for new devices in Brazil, adding a layer of security from the start. System management updates allow automatic phone number verification during device setup, with user preferences manageable through Device Settings and Google Account. Wallet functionality now permits moving access cards from a work profile to a personal profile on phones and wearables.

The Google Play Store version 47.9 introduces a helpful task-based search feature. This allows users to find apps based on specific activities or goals, making it easier to discover tools that suit their needs.

Earlier in the month, Google Play services version 25.34 from September 1 included several under-the-hood improvements. Account Management received bug fixes, while new developer features were added to support Device Connectivity processes in both first-party and third-party apps. The Safety & Emergency section now supports backup and restore for theft protection settings. Wallet users can now authenticate tap transactions even if the phone has been locked for more than 30 seconds, adding flexibility for contactless payments.

The Play Store version 47.8 also refined its search functionality, with snippets now displaying more relevant and useful results.
