Apple Unveils $799 iPhone 17 with 6.3″ Always-On ProMotion Display & A19 Chip

Apple’s latest iPhone 17 arrives with a starting price of $799, offering a 256GB configuration that brings premium features once exclusive to the Pro lineup into the hands of a broader audience. Pre-orders begin this Friday, with availability set for September 19.

The standout upgrade lies in the display: a 6.3-inch OLED screen that now supports 120Hz ProMotion technology, matching the fluidity and responsiveness previously reserved for higher-end models. This larger, more dynamic panel also introduces an always-on mode, which intelligently scales down to just 1Hz to conserve battery when not in active use.

Under the hood, the device is driven by the powerful A19 chip, ensuring smooth performance across applications, gaming, and multitasking. Apple has also fortified the display with Ceramic Shield 2, boasting three times better scratch resistance than earlier versions. For improved visibility in bright conditions, the screen can reach an impressive 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness, making it easier to use even under direct sunlight.
