Apple Announces iPadOS 26 Release Date

Apple has officially confirmed that iPadOS 26 will launch on September 15, bringing a host of powerful new features designed to enhance productivity and redefine the tablet experience. The announcement came during the company’s recent iPhone 17 event, marking the public release just months after the beta version was made available to developers.
A standout feature in this update is the introduction of a completely new windowing system, which transforms how users interact with their iPad. This functionality allows apps to be freely resized, moved across the screen, and managed with familiar controls like minimize, expand, and close, bringing a desktop-like multitasking environment to the tablet. The interface also benefits from Apple’s fresh Liquid Glass design language, incorporating transparent elements and fluid visuals across apps and system menus for a more cohesive and modern look.
Alongside these interface upgrades, iPadOS 26 introduces a redesigned Files app, offering improved tools for organizing and accessing content stored both locally and in iCloud. Users will also find a tablet-optimized Preview app for viewing and annotating PDFs with greater ease. Another notable addition is the new Phone app, which now includes AI-driven Live Translation capabilities, making real-time communication across languages smoother and more intuitive.
