Gamescom 2025: Biggest Announcements, Trailers & Reveals

The gaming world’s attention turned to Cologne this week for Gamescom Opening Night Live, where Geoff Keighley hosted a spectacular evening of premieres, gameplay debuts, and major announcements. This year’s showcase delivered an impressive lineup of reveals, headlined by Silent Hill F, Ninja Gaiden 4, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, setting the stage for an exciting year ahead in interactive entertainment.
From long-awaited sequels to surprising new intellectual properties, the event offered a little something for every kind of player. Dozens of titles seized the opportunity to capture the spotlight, each bringing fresh ideas and stunning visuals to an eager global audience. Routine
Routine looks like it’ll appeal to fans of ’80s and ’90s sci-fi horror with its VHS-influenced design. The first-person survival-horror game is out later this year for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
Road Kings
There’s a new 18-wheeler on the digital road, as Saber Interactive revealed Road Kings. As a truck driver, it’ll be up to you to haul cargo through dangerous terrain across the US. The game launches in 2026 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
PVKK
Sure, PVKK: PlanetenVerteidigungsKanonenKommandant is a weird, long name for a game, so let’s just stick with the shorter version for now. It’ll be out in 2026, and it sees players operate planetary defense cannon to fend off an interplanetary invasion while enjoying a lovely cup of tea.
Swords of Legends
There sure are a lot of action games based on Chinese folklore in development, aren’t there? Swords of Legends is another one for the pile, and this one is in development at Aurogon Shanghai. It looks enchanting in action, and there’s a ton of swordplay at its core as you wage war against monstrous foes.
Absolum
DotEmu’s roguelite beat-’em-up Absolum continues to look impressive ahead of its release on October 9. The new trailer showed off more of its gameplay, as well as its frog wizard in action.
He-Man and Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction
Speaking of beat-’em-ups, your father will probably be keen to give this new Masters of the Universe game a bash when it arrives. It looks like an SNES brawler, and it features several characters from the beloved ’80s animated series.
Outlaws + Handful of Missions Remaster
Night Dive Studios is working its remaster magic on the 1997 Lucasarts first-person shooter, Outlaws. As you’d expect, it features HD visuals and several quality-of-life updates.
Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes
A new Battlestar Galactica strategy game was briefly shown off during the ONL pre-show, and it looks like this one is heavily inspired by the reboot of the sci-fi show. It’s currently scheduled to launch in 2026.
Denshattack
Essentially Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater if your skateboard was replaced with a train speeding its way through a post-apocalyptic Japan, Denshattack is currently scheduled to launch in early 2026 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. It’ll also be available as a day-one release through Xbox Game Pass.
Valor Mortis
Developer One More Level is going back in time for its next game, as the Ghostrunner studio debuted its first-person souls-like during ONL. Set during the Napoleonic Wars, players will need to master swords, firearms, and powerful spells if they hope to stand a chance against foes that have been transformed into nightmarish monsters.
Bubsy 4D
Bubsy is getting a new game, and it’s currently in development at indie studio Fabraz. The first Bubsy 3D adventure since 1996–which isn’t nearly long enough–Bubsy 4D is coming to PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Switch consoles.
Sonic Racing CrossWorlds
In what looks like a wild crossover, Bandai Namco’s hungry hero Pac-Man and Sega’s Blue Blur Sonic the Hedgehog are getting crossover DLC for Pac-Man World 2: Re-Pac and Sonic Racing CrossWorlds. There’ll also be an open network test for Sonic Racing CrossWorlds from August 29 through September 1.
Hollow Knight: Silksong
While we’ll have to wait until August 21 for more news on Hollow Knight: Silksong, ONL did kick off properly with some fresh gameplay and confirmation of a 2025 release.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will officially launch on November 14, and during ONL, plenty of new details on the game were revealed. The game will feature Call of Duty’s Carry Forward program so that players can bring most of their Black Ops 6 goodies with them, and we also got a closer look at endgame content, how campaign progression works, the new Zombies map, and the ever-popular multiplayer modes that’ll be on offer.
Lords of the Fallen 2
The debut cinematic trailer for the souls-like Lords of the Fallen 2 was shown off during ONL, and CI Games says the sequel will be bloodier, faster, and more brutal than ever. It’ll launch in 2026.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Anime
Rumors of a Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice anime are indeed true, and it’ll be released in 2026. The first trailer showed off a brief glimpse of what fans can expect of this adaptation of the beloved From Software game, and with its stylish animation, it looks like it’ll be one to keep an eye out for when it lands on Crunchyroll next year.
Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight
The bat is back, as the Caped Crusader is coming to PC and console next year. This time, players can relive key moments from Batman movies, video games, and comic books as they become the legendary Dark Knight. But the real attention-grabber here was that Toast of London and What We Do in the Shadows star Matt Berry will voice Bane in the game.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4
Strategy fans can look forward to a brand-new game set in the Warhammer 40,000 galaxy, as Dawn of War 4 was officially revealed. Set 200 years after Dawn of War 3, the game will feature over 70 missions when it launches in 2026.
Monster Hunter Wilds x Final Fantasy 14
In a brief tease, Capcom showed off an upcoming collaboration with Final Fantasy 14 for Monster Hunter Wilds that’ll kick off in September. Final Fantasy 14 will also receive Monster Hunter content in early October.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Onimusha: Way of the Sword continues to look like a sharp revival of the classic action-RPG, and the new gameplay trailer revealed some gruesome monsters and impactful gameplay. It’ll be out in 2026 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Arknights: Endfield
We still don’t have a release date for Arknights: Endfield, but the ONL trailer reminded us that this game has some good-looking action, anime girls, and plenty of gadgets.
Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion
Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion is out next month, and a new trailer showed off more of the shift from towering mechs to one-man-army mech suits. These versatile warsuits can also be extensively customized, and like its predecessor, you’re free to experience the campaign on your own or in co-operative multiplayer. A demo is out now.
Europa Universalis V
It has been more than a decade since the last game in the Europa Universalis series was released, and Paradox confirmed that a new sequel in the strategy game series is in development.
Fallout Season 2
What happens in New Vegas doesn’t always stay in New Vegas, as the second season of Fallout is headed to the post-apocalyptic city located inside the radioactive Mojave Wasteland. The new teaser trailer for Prime Video’s adaptation of the beloved game showed off more of the iconic locale debuting in the new season–starting December 17–as well as the return of cast members Ella Purnell and Walton Goggins.
Indiana Jones and The Order of Giants
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle fans can look forward to next month’s expansion, The Order of Giants. During ONL, we got to see gameplay for it, and as you’d guess, it was full of traps, mysteries, and moments to put Indy’s whip to good use. The game is also coming to Switch 2 in 2026.
Deadpool VR
Deadpool VR launches on November 18, and the new trailer revealed that the Merc with a Mouth will be going up against Mojo, who is voiced by Hollywood actor John Leguizamo. Other characters featured in the trailer include Spiral and Omega Red.
World of Tanks 2.0
World of Tanks is getting a massive upgrade next month, and alongside numerous tweaks and fixes, the free-to-play game will also add Tier XI vehicles. These will be introduced in a new PvE story-driven campaign when the free update goes live on September 3.
John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando
After being missing in action for quite a while, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando made its gameplay debut during ONL. Developed by Saber Interactive, the game looks impressively gory in action and it’ll be out in early 2026.
Death by Scrolling
Death by Scrolling looks like a dangerously engaging game, as this vertically scrolling RPG from adventure game legend Ron Gilbert challenges you to fight your way through all kinds of hazards so that you can avoid a date with the Grim Reaper.
Zero Parades
ZA/UM teased its next game, Zero Parades. While the trailer was purely cinematic, it does look like it will revolve around espionage and spycraft.
Neverness to Everness
In case you can’t get enough of games with cool techwear fashion like Zenless Zone Zero and Honkai Star Rail, Neverness to Everness looks like an interesting entry in that very specific genre.
Unbeatable
Unbeatable is out on November 6, and the ONL trailer briefly showed off its catchy gameplay and FLCL-inspired vibes.
Honor of Kings: World
In another brief trailer, we got to look at a big boss fight in Honor of Kings: World and some fancy fantasy architecture.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
The Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 musical diversion did not disappoint, as the ONL audience was treated to a live performance pulled directly from one of the most emotionally devastating moments of the game.
Ninja Gaiden Black 4
Ninja Gaiden 4 is shaping up to be a fluid mix between precision swordplay and shinobi skills, and the new trailer for the game emphasized how you’ll use these abilities to leave a trail of mangled bodies behind you.
The Darkest Files
The Darkest Files is a game framed around heavy subject matter, as players will process documents, prosecute Nazis and defend post-war Germany. The game is out now for PC, and is also coming to Switch.
Cinder City
NCSoft had two games to show off at ONL, starting with the live-service tactical-shooter Cinder City. The MMO is set inside of an open-world environment that players can survive and thrive in.
Time Takers
The second game from NCSoft was weird, as Time Takers is a third-person team-based shooter that brings together characters from across various eras of human history to battle each other.
Silent Hill F
A new look at Silent Hill F showed off more of the game’s grisly souls-like combat and terrifying setting based on Japanese folklore. For the English dub, the protagonist will be voiced by Suzie Yeung, Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s Yuffie.
Cronos: The New Dawn
Bloober Team has been on a tear as of late, and for its next game, it’s going to hop through time for some third-person survival-horror that looks heavily influenced by Dead Space. We got a new gameplay trailer and a look at just how uncomfortable the protagonist’s suit must be in real life, thanks to a cosplayer appearing on the stage dressed as the Traveler.
La Divina Commedia
For some divine comedy action–and what is probably an incredibly unreadable logo–La Divina Commedia looks like it’ll transport players to several circles of hell where they’ll be forced to fight or perish.
The Outer Worlds 2
The Outer Worlds 2 is doubling down on what made the first game so memorable, as this sequel to the original sci-fi game is aiming to give players more opportunities to craft their own tale across several planets. The new trailer–introduced by Obsidian’s “head of sequels,” Ben Schwartz–was full of cheeky humor and companions as well, showing just what players can expect when The Outer Worlds lands on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC on October 29.
Inzoi: Island Getaway
Available August 20, Inzoi’s Island Getawat is free to all players.
Fate Trigger
Another game with heavily armed anime ladies, Fate Trigger’s early access period begins in early 2026.
The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin
Based on the popular manga and anime series, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin features a brand-new original story. The new trailer for the open-world game had plenty of gameplay, showing how players will explore the land of Britannia as the protagonist, Prince Tristan of Liones.
Void/Breaker
Void/Breaker is out now in early access for Steam and PC Game Pass, and there was a quick sizzle reel trailer for the game shown off during ONL.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
After years of development and numerous delays, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will officially be out on October 21 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The new trailer also showed off how players will have a guiding voice in their head–quite literally!–to help them crack an unsolved murder case during their exploration of Seattle and the secret society of vampires.
Moonlighter 2
11 bit studios and Digital Sun Games revealed that roguelike Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault will be available via Steam Early Access starting October 23. This build of the game will feature three biomes and over 120 relics to collect and sell ahead of its eventual full release.
World of Warcraft: Midnight
World of Warcraft’s upcoming expansion, Midnight, got a fancy new reveal trailer during ONL, showing off the next chapter in the grand MMORPG in even grander style. Featuring Blood Elf leaders Lor’themar and Liadrin protecting their homeland of Quel’Thalas from Xal’atath and her invading army, the new cinematic shows just how dire things have become in the next chapter of the Worldsoul Saga.
Age of Empires 4
Age of Empires 4 is on its way to PS5 in November, and we also got a teaser for the New Dynasties of the East expansion that will launch alongside it.
Cult of the Lamb
Fans of sects and violence can prepare themselves for a new Cult of the Lamb expansion, Woolhaven. It’ll launch in early 2026.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: Legacy of the Forge
The second DLC expansion for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Legacy of the Forge, launches on September 9. This new content will see players acquire an old forge and repair it so that they can become the best blacksmith in town.
Enshrouded: Wake the Water
Wake of the Water is a big new update coming to Enshrouded in October, and it looks like we’re going to need to get our swimming shorts out of storage for this one.
Project Spectrum
Project Spectrum is the next game from the team behind it Delta Force, and it looks wild. Billed as a PvPvE psychological-horror game, it wash shown off with a slick cinematic trailer during ONL.
World of Tanks: Heat
World of Tanks 2.0 wasn’t the only reveal revolving around war machines at ONL, as we also got the debut trailer for World of Tanks: Heat. A 10v10 hero shooter–but with tanks and agents–the game will be coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S and it’ll offer both cross-play and cross-progression.
Ghost of Yotei
Easily one of the biggest releases of October, Ghost of Yotei made a quick appearance during ONL, revealing more of its beautiful world, action-packed samurai gameplay, and revenge-fueled story. Ghost of Tsushima’s co-op multiplayer mode, Legends, will also be coming to Ghost of Yotei in 2026.
Resident Evil Requiem
Resident Evil Requiem is looking like it’ll be dramatically raising heart rates when it launches February 2026, as the new gameplay trailer showed off protagonist Grace Ashcroft’s backstory in terrifying detail.
Black Myth: Zhong Kui
The final surprise of the night was Black Myth: Zhongkui from Black Myth Wukong developer Game Science. This will be a single-player action-RPG, starring the ghost-catching god Zhong Kui.
