Hyundai has taken the wraps off its latest high-performance electric vehicle, the Ioniq 6 N, building on the success of the Ioniq 5 N with even more power and track-focused enhancements. The sleek sedan packs a punch with 650 PS (478 kW) and 770 Nm of torque, rocketing from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds when launch control is engaged. Top speed clocks in around 160 mph, making it a formidable contender in the performance EV segment.

Developed by Hyundai’s N division, the 6 N isn’t just about raw speed, it’s engineered for precision handling and racetrack durability. A revamped battery management system adapts to different driving scenarios, whether it’s drag racing, sprint laps, or endurance runs. This ensures optimal temperature control, allowing the car to maintain peak performance for extended periods while reducing downtime between sessions.

Hyundai’s CEO, José Muñoz, emphasized the car’s role in winning over performance enthusiasts who might still be loyal to combustion engines. A key part of that strategy is the N e-Shift system, which debuted in the Ioniq 5 N and has been further refined here. The system mimics the feel of a traditional gearbox, complete with simulated gear changes that affect both acceleration and sound. Drivers can choose from different audio profiles, including motorsport-inspired tones, a futuristic “Evolution” mode, or even a sci-fi-themed “Lightspeed” setting.

Beyond the auditory experience, the 6 N’s chassis and suspension have been reworked for sharper dynamics, while aerodynamic tweaks, like a swan-neck rear wing and widened fenders, enhance stability at high speeds. The drag coefficient, though slightly higher than the standard Ioniq 6’s ultra-slippery 0.21, remains impressive at 0.27.

Inside, the N Ambient Shift Light provides visual cues for gear changes, adding another layer of engagement for drivers. With its bold Performance Blue Pearl paint and motorsport-inspired styling, the Ioniq 6 N is as much a head-turner as it is a track weapon. Hyundai’s latest EV proves that electrification doesn’t mean sacrificing the thrill of driving, instead, it redefines it.
