LEGO has announced that a fan-designed iMac G3 set proposal on its “Ideas” platform has been moved to Parking Lot status, meaning it is still under serious consideration and has not been rejected.
The “Ideas” website allows LEGO enthusiasts to submit concepts for potential official sets. Any project that garners 10,000 votes advances to the LEGO Review Board for a chance at production. In August 2025, fan designer terauma submitted a detailed recreation of Apple’s iconic 1998 iMac G3 in Bondi Blue.
The proposed build faithfully reproduces the original computer’s all-in-one silhouette, complete with its distinctive “hockey puck” mouse, matching keyboard, and visible cables. It uses translucent blue LEGO bricks that closely match the Bondi Blue shade, and the interior even includes detailed elements like a cathode ray tube and a circuit board.
After reaching the required 10,000 supporters, the project entered the review process. Parking Lot status indicates LEGO needs additional time to evaluate the concept, which in this case likely involves securing licensing permission from Apple.
Many Ideas proposals face early rejection, so this extended review is a positive sign. Other sets, such as the Downton Abbey and The Old Man and the Sea builds, were previously in the Parking Lot before being approved for production.
The iMac G3 was part of the third 2025 Ideas review round, which included 75 qualifying projects. Of those, three were greenlit for production, four (including the iMac G3) received Parking Lot status for further evaluation, and the remainder were declined. Projects can stay in the Parking Lot for up to three review cycles before a final decision is made.
LEGO will provide future updates on whether the iMac G3 set will move forward or be permanently shelved. A similar proposal for a LEGO Apple Store went through the same process but was ultimately rejected.
