I had one simple request for everyone who stopped to admire the phone I’ve been testing , friends, colleagues, even the security guard checking me in at a major tech company’s lobby.

The Motorola Razr Ultra isn’t just another foldable. The review unit I received came in orient blue, with a soft, woven back panel made from Alcantara fabric , the same material you’d find lining the seats of a luxury sports car. And I can’t stop touching it. I do worry about how it will hold up after months of sliding into dusty bags and being passed to my toddler’s grubby hands, but after two weeks of daily use, it hasn’t picked up any noticeable grime or dirt.
That tactile appeal is a big part of the Razr Ultra’s charm. But beneath that lovely surface, the phone carries some familiar flaws that have plagued foldables for years. The hinge still feels a bit loose, and the crease down the center of the main display remains visible , especially when the screen is off. More importantly, the battery life and camera performance still lag behind what you’d get from a traditional flagship slab phone.
The Razr Ultra is a stunning piece of industrial design, but it’s not yet a complete smartphone. If you’re willing to trade some practicality for that unique look and feel, you’ll find a lot to love. Just don’t expect it to replace your main device without some compromises.
