Rumors suggest the highly anticipated action game Stellar Blade may soon expand its reach beyond PlayStation consoles. Reports indicate developer Shift Up has begun adapting the title for Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 platform, potentially bringing the visually stunning adventure to a new audience.

Industry sources from Korean outlet PlayForum claim the studio has obtained development kits for Nintendo’s next-generation hardware. While technical challenges exist due to the Switch 2’s expected performance limitations compared to PS5 and PC, the team is reportedly working on platform-specific optimizations. This move aligns with Shift Up’s broader strategy to establish its franchises across multiple gaming ecosystems.

The PC version’s recent launch demonstrated the game’s cross-platform potential, achieving remarkable sales figures that surpassed PlayStation’s previous single-player records. Within just 72 hours of release, the title crossed one million copies sold, a testament to its growing popularity.

Beyond this potential Switch 2 port, Shift Up maintains an ambitious roadmap. The studio continues supporting its mobile hit Goddess of Victory: Nikke while developing Project Spirits, a newly announced flagship title. Most notably, work has already begun on Stellar Blade 2, targeting a 2027 release according to recent investor materials.

Director Hyung-tae Kim addressed criticisms regarding the original game’s storytelling, explaining how budget constraints impacted narrative elements. “Early designs included deeper character motivations, even explanations for Eve’s frequent costume changes,” he revealed. “But as production advanced, we faced difficult choices about which scenes to prioritize. Ultimately, we streamlined non-essential story elements to ensure the core experience remained polished.”

This potential Switch 2 version could introduce the franchise to Nintendo’s massive player base while giving the developer valuable experience optimizing for different hardware profiles. With a sequel in development and multiplatform ambitions taking shape, Stellar Blade appears poised for significant expansion across the gaming landscape.
