Hades 2 has just rolled out its third major update in Steam Early Access, introducing fresh character interactions, enhanced visuals, and powerful new weapon aspects. With an extensive list of changes, this update appears to be the final significant overhaul before the game’s full 1.0 launch later this year, including its debut on Nintendo Switch 2.
The latest patch brings substantial improvements, including Hidden Aspects for each Nocturnal Arm, revamped Guardian encounters, and deeper character relationships. Greg Kasavin, creative director at Supergiant Games, shared on Discord that the team is now shifting focus toward the official release, which will feature the game’s true ending and final refinements.
One of the most striking changes is the overhaul of The Flames of Ygnium, making combat feel more responsive. Enemy waves now spawn faster, reducing downtime between encounters. Players will also notice that Narcissus finally has a fully realized 3D model and animations, replacing the placeholder art. The main menu has been updated to confirm that the next major update will coincide with the 1.0 launch on PC, Switch, and Switch 2, while other platforms like PlayStation and Xbox will follow later.
Though Hades 2 is expected to fully release in 2025, Supergiant hasn’t locked in an exact date, leaving room for potential delays. Kasavin emphasized the importance of polishing the final stretch of development, thanking fans for their patience. Pricing remains uncertain, while the Early Access version is currently $30 on Steam (with a 10% discount), the final console release could see a price increase to $40.
The game will launch simultaneously on Switch and Switch 2, with the newer hardware offering improved visuals and performance. It’s still unclear whether the enhanced version will require an additional cost. Meanwhile, anticipation builds for other major indie sequels like Hollow Knight: Silksong, raising hopes that these releases won’t clash on the same day.
With each update, Hades 2 continues to refine its addictive roguelite formula, setting the stage for what could be one of the year’s most exciting launches. Fans won’t have to wait much longer to experience the complete adventure.
