Fast Money Glitch: Nugget Bridge Exploit Guide

▼ Summary
– The Nugget Bridge glitch in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen allows players to generate unlimited money by repeatedly receiving and selling Nuggets from a specific NPC.
– This glitch is reported to work only in the English (North American) versions of the games, including the 2026 Switch release.
– To perform the glitch, defeat five trainers on Nugget Bridge, save, then return with only one low-level Pokémon to repeatedly lose to a Team Rocket Grunt who gives a Nugget each time.
– Each Nugget can be sold at a Poké Mart for 5,000 Pokédollars, and the process can be repeated until the player has the desired amount of money.
– The money earned is especially useful for buying coins at the Celadon Game Corner to purchase rare Pokémon like Dratini and Porygon.
Building a substantial bankroll is essential for any serious Pokémon FireRed or LeafGreen journey, funding everything from essential healing items to a steady supply of Poké Balls. While battling trainers remains the standard method, a clever exploit discovered early in the game offers a much faster path to wealth. This method, known as the Nugget Bridge glitch, provides a reliable way to generate virtually unlimited funds. It is important to note that this sequence appears to function only in the English-language North American versions of these games, including the re-released Switch edition.
The process begins after you earn the Boulder Badge from Brock in Pewter City. Make your way through Mt. Moon and onto Route 4 until you arrive in Cerulean City. Proceed north from the city to find the distinctive wooden Nugget Bridge. Your rival will challenge you here; win that battle to proceed. You must then consecutively defeat the five trainers stationed on the bridge.
Immediately after beating the fifth trainer, save your game right there on the bridge. Then, walk back to the Cerulean City Pokémon Center. Access the PC storage system and deposit all but one of your Pokémon. The one you keep should be a very low-level creature, such as a Level 3 Weedle. With only this weak Pokémon in your party, return to and cross Nugget Bridge.
A man waiting on the far side will commend your victory over the bridge trainers and hand you a Nugget as a reward. He then reveals himself as a Team Rocket operative and challenges you to a fight. Your goal is to intentionally lose this battle. Allow him to knock out your sole Pokémon. You will black out and wake up at the Pokémon Center, having lost a small amount of cash, but crucially, you will still possess the Nugget he gave you.
Head back to the same Team Rocket Grunt. Remarkably, he will present you with another Nugget and battle you again. Lose to him once more. You can repeat this cycle indefinitely: approach him, receive a Nugget, lose the battle, and repeat. Each Nugget can be sold at any Poké Mart for 5,000 Pokédollars. Simply continue the cycle until your funds reach a satisfactory level. Be warned that if you ever choose to defeat the Grunt, the exploit ends, so only win that battle when you are completely finished farming money.
This financial windfall opens significant opportunities later in the game, particularly at the Celadon City Game Corner. Here, you can exchange Pokédollars for coins to purchase rare Pokémon that are otherwise difficult to obtain. With the vast sums generated from the glitch, acquiring species like Dratini, Scyther, or even Porygon becomes a straightforward task. The coin costs for these Pokémon are substantial, but the Nugget Bridge method makes them easily affordable.
