Celebrating three decades of demon-slaying action, Limited Run is bringing Doom back to the Super Nintendo in spectacular fashion. This September marks the 30th anniversary of the iconic shooter’s SNES debut, and the physical-media specialist is rolling out an exclusive collector’s edition alongside a groundbreaking rumble controller designed specifically for the classic console.

Preorders for both the $175 collector’s edition and $100 standard edition open on July 11. Each version packs significant upgrades over the original 1994 release, including 14 brand-new levels, nightmare difficulty, circle strafing controls, performance optimizations, and full rumble support, all playable on authentic SNES cartridges.

The premium collector’s set stands out with its gruesome aesthetic, featuring a blood-red cartridge, embossed foil packaging, a 12″ x 16″ poster, and a retro-style instruction manual. Notably, the bundle doesn’t include a controller, but Limited Run has a solution: a dedicated SNES rumble pad priced at $35, available for preorder the same day.

This first-of-its-kind rumble controller could revolutionize classic gaming, though for now, it’s exclusively compatible with the new Doom release. While third-party wireless options like 8BitDo’s Amazon-listed SNES pad exist, none offer haptic feedback, making Limited Run’s innovation a potential game-changer for retro enthusiasts.

Fans have until August 10 to secure their orders, with shipments expected by February 2026. Meanwhile, the Doom franchise continues to expand, Dark Horse Books will release an art book for the upcoming Doom: The Dark Ages this November, keeping the hype alive while players wait for their nostalgic SNES revival.
