Stormind Games, the independent Italian studio celebrated for its Remothered horror series and contributions to projects like the Sicilian setting in Mafia: The Old Country for 2K Games and Hangar 13, has successfully closed a new investment round. This fresh capital injection will fuel the creation of several new game titles, reinforcing the studio’s position in the global gaming market.

A significant portion of the funding will support development of a project based on a major Hollywood intellectual property. This follows the studio’s recent work on the horror game A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, which was published by Saber Interactive and is set within the universe of Paramount’s acclaimed film series. Prior to that, Stormind collaborated with Team17 on the indie release Batora: Lost Haven, building on the earlier success of its own Remothered franchise.

CEO Antonio Cannata has long expressed his vision for the company, aiming to build a multi-project studio that preserves its independence and distinct Italian identity. He emphasized a desire to achieve something unprecedented within Italy’s development scene, free from external pressures. Cannata pointed to Italy’s rich cultural heritage of poets and artists as a key influence, noting the team’s artistic and uniquely Italian perspective. At the same time, he stressed the importance of an international design and narrative approach, ensuring their games resonate with a worldwide audience, not just players in Italy.

Staying true to this vision, the recent funding round was spearheaded by Marsa Holding, a family office concentrating on ventures in Southern Italy. The investment also received backing from Italian financial institutions Intesa Sanpaolo and Mediocredito Centrale. As part of the agreement, Marsa Holding has acquired a 10% stake in Stormind Holding.

Cannata described the deal as a pivotal moment for the studio’s expansion. He explained that the new partnership will empower Stormind Games to significantly increase its production capabilities and co-finance large-scale projects alongside leading international publishers.
