▼ Summary
– Ubisoft has proposed restructuring its Finland-based RedLynx studio to align with global cost reduction and efficiency efforts.
– RedLynx will hold collective negotiations with staff starting October 20, 2025, before a final decision is made on the proposal.

Ubisoft has initiated a major restructuring plan at its Finnish game development studio, RedLynx, placing up to 60 positions at risk primarily within production and administrative departments. This strategic move forms part of the company’s broader initiative to streamline operations, reduce overall expenses, and enhance prioritization and efficiency throughout its global network of studios. The proposed changes would not impact the technology team currently developing Ubisoft’s Snowdrop game engine, ensuring continuity for that critical project.
RedLynx, celebrated for creating the popular Trials racing franchise, recently saw its mobile title Gwen’s Gateway cancelled in December 2024. Under the new proposal, the studio would transition from a multiplatform developer to one specializing in small screens, specifically mobile gaming. This pivot aims to better utilize the studio’s distinctive capabilities, beginning with two unannounced mobile projects already in development.
Before any final decisions are made, RedLynx will enter into collective bargaining with its employees. Negotiations are scheduled to commence on October 20, 2025, and are anticipated to conclude by the end of November. Ubisoft RedLynx managing director Celine Pasula acknowledged the gravity of the situation, stating, “This proposal reflects difficult choices we may need to make, and it comes after careful consideration. We recognise the weight of this announcement and want to acknowledge the impact this proposal may have on individuals and teams.”
Pasula expressed confidence that the proposed realignment would enable RedLynx to maintain a significant role within Ubisoft’s future, focusing on achieving technical excellence for mobile platforms and bolstering the company’s cross-platform capabilities on smaller screens to attract a wider audience. Ubisoft originally acquired RedLynx back in 2011, though the financial terms of the deal were never publicly disclosed.
