An era is drawing to a close for New Jersey nightlife as the legendary Headliner Oasis nightclub and bar in Neptune Township prepares to shut down permanently later this month. This iconic Jersey Shore destination will be demolished to make way for a major new redevelopment initiative, marking the end of an important chapter for the local community.
General Manager Tom Sueta shared the emotional news through a social media announcement on Saturday, which quickly generated an outpouring of nostalgic responses from devoted patrons. In a Facebook post signed by “Tom and Jo Jo,” Sueta expressed the difficulty of the decision, stating the venue’s last operational day will be October 20th. The closure is necessary to accommodate Neptune Township’s forthcoming Waterways at Neptune project, a large-scale redevelopment that will replace the nightclub with a hotel, two residential buildings, and new spaces for dining and retail.
Reflecting on the establishment’s legacy, Sueta highlighted the profound social impact the Headliner Oasis has had over the years, noting that countless relationships and marriages began within its walls. He also emphasized the venue’s strong commitment to philanthropy, having supported hundreds of charitable causes. “We’ve been truly blessed over the years,” Sueta remarked. “We are deeply proud of the role we have played in the community, and beyond grateful for the memories we have shared with all of you.”
Before the final farewell, the nightclub has scheduled a series of special events to give patrons a chance to celebrate one last time. The lineup includes Sunday football viewings, an evening hosted by Rob Bush on Monday, and Thursday gatherings featuring karaoke and poker. The following Saturday will be particularly busy, starting with a Sisters for a Cure benefit at 1 p.m. and followed by a Notre Dame Fan Club game watch at 7 p.m. On the final Sunday, October 19, the venue will host a Halloween-themed Unicorn Bingo event.
Sueta extended his gratitude to all the employees and friends who have been part of the Headliner Oasis story, calling his experience an “unforgettable journey.” He warmly invited everyone to visit before the doors close for good, encouraging them to share one last farewell cocktail and celebrate the countless memories created together.
