Elgato has introduced the Prompter XL, a significantly larger teleprompter designed for professional creators, corporate presentations, and studio environments. This new model expands on the success of the original Elgato Prompter, offering a substantial upgrade in screen size and resolution to meet the demands of more complex production setups.
The standout feature of the Prompter XL is its 15.6-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, a major step up from the 9-inch, 1024 x 600 panel found in the earlier version. This enhanced screen real estate makes it much easier to read scripts and notes from a distance, which is especially valuable for business presentations, town hall meetings, and podcasters working in dedicated studio spaces.
Thanks to its larger dimensions, the Prompter XL can accommodate DSLR and mirrorless cameras with lenses as long as 22cm, overcoming the limitations of the original model that only supported shorter lenses. While webcams and smartphones can also be used, an additional third-party adapter is necessary. Elgato includes a camera bracket and a selection of backplates with the Prompter XL, allowing it to fit a variety of camera lens sizes securely.
Just like its predecessor, the Prompter XL integrates seamlessly with Elgato’s Camera Hub software. This application provides full control over the displayed text, including an auto-scroll feature that advances the script in sync with the speaker’s pace. For added convenience, users can pair the teleprompter with a Stream Deck to manage playback and other functions hands-free.
Given its generous screen size, the Prompter XL can double as a secondary monitor, though it is considerably heavier at 7.43 pounds compared to the original’s 1.52 pounds. It is not compatible with Elgato’s Multi Mount system, but it does work with most standard tripods and mounting hardware. Power is delivered via USB-C 3.2, requiring 15 watts, so users may need a powered hub if their computer lacks a compatible high-power USB-C port.
The Prompter XL is available now, priced at $599.99 in the United States, €599.99 in Europe, and £499.99 in the United Kingdom.
